A high-voltage switching ADSL line-driver, with an n-type output stage

ADSL line-drivers mostly use linear amplifiers. However, ADSL signals have a high peak-to-average voltage ratio. Unfortunately, the efficiency of linear amplifiers is low at small signal amplitudes, thus reducing the efficiency of the overall line-driver. A possible alternative is the use of switching amplifiers, because they ideally have an efficiency of 100%. On the downside, the distortion is larger. This paper presents a high-voltage switching amplifier. The high-voltage output stage consists of two n-type devices.
