The Development of Body Shape Indices for Garment Making

摘要

The objective of this study was to develop body shape indices for garment making. Body figure is an important factor when making alteration from basic pattern in garment making. An automatic body shape analysis system was developed in this study to provide body shape indices from body scanned data. Three body shapes indices: shoulder slope, humpback and chest cross-section shape were designed in the system to provide body figure information. The body figures of five subjects were evaluated by this system. One suit was made for each subject based on the evaluation result and two tailors then judged the clothes fitness. The results show that the body shape indices could reflect the shoulder slope well while humpback may need more revision.
