Industrial control applications using the wireless application protocol (WAP)

Telemetry services becomes more and more important in the field of automation. The WAP-Protocol, which is closely related to the internet protocols and standards, offers new opportunities for remote and mobile data access. This article deals with the principles of WAP and gives an outlook on future applications. An example illustrates a remote control application using a microcontroller with an embedded WEB-server and a cellular phone.
