User service is an important field and also the ultimate goal of the digital library, however; recently scholars have mainly concentrated on digitized technology and organization of digitized information. The research of digital library users, especially the research of user's service modes has not caused enough concern. This article attempts to describe the modes of user service in the digital library. Based on the fact that digital library are bringing enormous changes both on the library itself and on users, the authors suggest five modes of user service, which support users' information needs. The characteristics, advantages and adaptabilities at each mode are discussed and analyzed. Finally, a comprehensive integrated mode of user service is showed with figure visually. The authors emphasize that different library may choose some or all these service modes to make a combination neatly according to their own conditions.
