Offline Battery Life Estimation: - Statistically robust calendar life assessments are based on a life model and error model using Monte Carlo simulations and verification testing. - Non-isothermal aging should be conducted to further understand path dependence (memory) effects. - Rate-based modeling can be used to estimate life under non-isothermal conditions. Online Battery Life Estimation: - Improved online state-of-health assessments are required for battery management systems. - Rapid impedance measurements can be used as an additional sensor for advanced monitoring and control. A prototype state-of-health assessment architecture is under development that incorporates both passive and active measurements.
