Khao Yai National Park is located roughly 200 km northeast of Bangkok, the upwind direction during the dry season, and 400 meters above sea level. Most area of the park is vastly grassy field alternating with flourishing forests. Monitoring of fine (PM2.5) and coarse (PM10-2.5) was conducted in the dry season, January-February 2005, using 2 co- located dichotomous samplers. Simultaneously, gaseous samples were taken which were subsequently analyzed for SO2, NO_x, BTEX and CO. The PM samples were analyzed for composition including water soluble ions using the ion chromatography, black carbon using a reflectometer, and EC/OC by TOT. The PM10 and gaseous concentrations in Khaoyai were compared with the levels in the surrounding towns and in the Bangkok city. Analysis of PM2.5/PM10 ratio and relative contribution of different components to PM mass was carried out.
