The bending behavior of fabrics depends on fabric weight under large deformation. The relationship between the bending moment and curvature is nonlinear. A modified fabric bending (MFB) model in two sections is developed based on the nonlinear bending relationship of fabrics. The governing differential equation and numerical solution for the fabric bending properties has been obtained. Compared the data calculated from MFB model with those from pure bending and cantilever bending, the MFB model is more approximate in characterizing fabric bending behavior. A Modified Electronic Strength Instrument (MESI) based on the tri-point bending in principal is developed to validate results tested by FAST and KES respectively.
