CMCAB Cellulose Ester has been shown to offer the same benefits in water-borne coating systems that traditional cellulose acetate butyrate offers in solvent borne coating systems. Performance features include improved sag resistance, reduced "dry to touch", and improved flake orientation in metallic coating systems. The hydrophilic/hydrophobic nature of CMCAB Cellulose Ester has also been shown to facilitate the dispersion of hydrophobic species into water based coating systems, thus allowing for incorporation of a wide range of hydrophobes into water including traditional solvent based resins. When incorporating CMCAB Cellulose Ester into a water based formulation, consideration should be given to the rheological characteristics of the pre-dispersed or pre-dissolved forms of CMCAB Cellulose Ester.
