Tom Brown Inc. completed construction of an acid gas enrichment and gas injection (AGE / AGI) facility at the Lisbon Gas Plant during May 2003. Lean acid gas feed (14 MMSCFD design basis with 4% H H2S) is treated using ExxonMobil Research and Engineering's proprietary FLEXSORB? SE amine solvent to produce an Enriched Acid Gas (1 MMSCFD with 50% H H2S and 50% CO S CO2). The Enriched Acid Gas is compressed in five stages to about 1500 psig and discharged hot (230°F) into a 2.5 mile long pipeline to the acid gas disposal wellsite. The Enriched Acid Gas is effectively dehydrated through the compression process. The Enriched Acid Gas is heated at the wellsite, takes a minimal pressure drop before the wellhead, and then flows down the well tubing and into the reservoir. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the design of the AGE / AGI facility in detail; illustrating key issues with 30 days of hourly operating performance data. ). The paper briefly discusses the economic decision to replace the previous sulfur recovery facility with the AGE / AGI facility. Incremental benefits associated with the AGE / AGI facility were sufficient to justify the capital investment which was about $4.2MM, or $2 per MSCF of H H2S removed over the life of the project. Capital investment was reduced significantly because an ideal acid gas injection well was available at low cost. In addition, much of the AGE facility was scavenged from various parts of the Lisbon Plant and retrofitted for the new service. This paper will review the project schedule to provide guidelines for those who might follow in our footsteps.
