摘要

This work presents a theoretical analysis of a modified OPGW cable. In this cable, the external conductors possess trapezoidal geometry instead of the circular cross-section of the original OPGW cable. This can improve electric and thermic characteristics of the OPGW. The variation of the current density distributions over the cross-section of this modified cable as a function of the frequency is numerically calculated by the software Femlab. These numerical results are compared with those obtained by Femlab simulations of the original OPGW cable and the cable with homogeneous layers. In the latter case, the external circular conductors are modeled by a homogeneous layer. The homogeneous OPGW cable is also analyzed by an analytical model of waveguide using the Maxwell's equations in the frequency domain.
