We propose the concept of semantic lossless source coding in this paper. This kind of source coding produces a sequence of code symbols that is "close" to the sequence of source symbols. The concept turns out to be related to reversible embedding. We determine the region of achievable distortions and discuss the implications of our theoretical results.
