A BRIEF SURVEY OF MULTI-OBJECTIVE SCHEDULING TECHNIQUES AS APPLIED TO THE JOB SHOP PROBLEM (JSP)

A brief survey of the use of Multi-objective scheduling techniques on the job shop problem is offered. The survey stops at a stage where new trends and approaches are emerging that take advantage of techniques such genetic algorithms and the power of recent computing technology that may allow for consideration of more than two objectives when scheduling a job. Thus the paper sets the stage for a further detailed analysis that involves decision makers at the problem formulation stage.
