Calcium disodium EDTA is a chelating agent widely used for the treatment of lead toxicosis in avian species. A study was conducted in falcons to assess the efficiency of this agent to reduce lead levels in clinical cases of lead toxicosis using the dose rate of 100 mg/kg. Blood chemistry analyses were performed before and after chelation therapy to assess any possible deleterious effect on muscle at the injection site and liver and kidney function. There was no evidence of muscle tissue damage or liver and kidney toxicity after administration of 25% Ca Na2 EDTA at the dose rate of 100 mg/kg, undiluted, IM ql2h for 5-25 consecutive days.
