Nine years ago at its inception and until today the shortage of teachers in the far, remote area in term of numbers and specialization, especially science, mathematics and foreign languages, remain a critical problem. This has been exacerbated by the discrepancy between the number of 30,000 primary schools vis-à-vis somewhat 3,000 secondary schools. Three million kids, aged 12, who after finishing primary school has nowhere to continue their studies still immature and lacking sound judgement, they can easily fall victims of drugs and human trade. His Majesty the king is concerned that lack of education and ignorance constitutes a great threat to a nation's well-being and security….which may eventually lead to a multitude of social illnesses….and become irretrievable cost to the society. “The Wang Klaikangwon School, Hua Hin Model : Distance Education Via Satellite Broadcast and Flexible Learning” which combines live programmes of the satellite distance education teaching and learning and the eServices offered by the Distance Learning Foundation seeks to integrate His Majesty the King's advoacacy of Lifelong Learning via Technology, Sufficiency Economy and moral teaching and training with the ICT technology in a distance education module. It is a distance education with a human face with ultimate aim to promote the quality human resource development and well being of the people, without discrimination.
