The construction sector is large but highly fragmented. It makes the largest single contribution to Europe's business economy providing 10 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and in excess of 50 percent of gross fixed capital formation (GFCF). The residential segment alone represents approximately 30 percent of total construction output and therefore offers huge opportunities for modern steel-based building system solutions.
