In the 17-day standstill of 2004, SIDMAR has modified the coif evacuation of the hot strip mill. Before the standstill, the coils were tilted to axis vertical directly after downcoiling and transported by chain conveyors to the stockyard before pickling. If necessary, the tail end was conditioned (50 percent of all coils) and inspected (1 coil out of 12 to 20), Afterwards, coif telescopes were reduced by a telescope press, the coil was strapped, weighed and marked, all axis vertical, along the chain conveyor.
