Contact less measurement of stresses based on the thermo-elastic effect: is a fast and robust method for: detection of stress concentrations, validation of FEM models can reveal unexpected stress concentrations show higher stress values at the edges than the FEM analysis for a single notch bending specimen. This is due to the limitations of FEM modelling.
