Sinter plant waste gas cleaning - State of the art

Sinter plant is still an important link of the entire production chain in an integrated steel company. Sinter plant produces not only the iron bearing sinter for the blast furnace, but also recycles a lot of valuable secondary materials to avoid their landfill. However, the environmental regulation has been continually and strictly tightened by the authorities in respect to the emission limits of the waste gas. This challenge has to be managed by the sinter plant operators. One option is to optimise further the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) and enhance its capability in combination with adsorption methods. The other option is the "End-of-Pipe" solution to build an additional waste gas cleaning system. In this context, the fabric filter technology gets more and more application at the sinter plant. A suitable waste gas recycling system can reduce both the emissions and volume of the waste gas to be finally cleaned.
