THE OPERATION OF A MULTI-STAGE GASIFICATION AND INCINERATION FACILITY FOR MEDICAL WASTE

Pyrolysis and gasification characteristics of medical waste in both batch fed and externally heated rotary kilns and a multi-stage gasification and incineration thermal treatment technology with rotary kiln and fluidized bed was introduced, which includes distribution of pyrolysis gas, flue gas, temperature, fly ash and bottom ash. Then an engineering demonstration rotary kiln linked with fluidized bed was built. The waste decomposes below the melting point of the ash material releasing pyrolysis gas in the rotary kiln and the products incinerate under high temperature in a fluidized bed. A run on this engineering demonstration system was tested and analyzed, which indicates that multistage incineration technology is excellent in medical waste treatment since it not only makes the waste harmless but also ensures the flue gas emission can meet the need of national standard.
