Availability and utilization of rebates and incentives to enhance project economics

In the United States, there is approximately USD1.2 billion in energy efficiency related funding provided by state and public utility agencies [1]. This is a significant source of funding to enhance the return of investment on energy projects. A recent survey of corporate energy managers across the country showed a lack of understanding of where rebates are available and how to collect them as significant barriers for why their organizations are not capitalizing on this important funding source[4]. It is necessary to fully understand the geographic distribution of the funding, what categories of projects are eligible for rebates and the engineering justifications necessary to meet the administrative agency's requirements to take complete advantage of all the rebates and incentives that are available.
