摘要

In India, Andhra Pradesh state is one of the major producer of Rice and Bagasse (Sugar cane) and hence most of the regional small scale rural industries which have access to the Rice husk and Bagasse waste in the vicinity of rice mills and sugar cane factories, generally set up their production units utilizing these materials as low grade fuels for their requirements of evaporators and furnaces, in order to substitute some of their costly energy requirements of the industry thus producing large amounts of these ashes. Fly ash from major thermal power stations of the region is also one of the important industrial waste, besides Basic open hearth furnace slag and glass cullets from other industries. The present project was under taken mainly with a view to highlight the feasibility of the utilization of wastes for the development of small scale industries and generation of new employment potential for weaker sections and tribals in the vicinity of regional industrial townships. Millions of tons of the above Agricultural and Industrial wastes are being dumped every year in the vicinity of industrial areas causing serious environmental pollution and blocking costly space. In the present investigation various composites and glasses were developed utilizing major percentages of the above mentioned wastes with a view to develop cost effective materials for constructional and allied applications for small scale regional industries.
