UPDATING PARAMETERS FOR THE MODEL OF A THREE STOREY ALUMINIUM SPACE FRAME

An aluminium space frame is modelled at the joints by part-rigid beam elements and updated over the range of the first ten natural frequencies by correcting two joint parameters. It is demonstrated that the correction cannot be achieved, within the constraints of the initial finite element model, solely on the basis of stiffness modifications. An equivalent model based on both mass and stiffness adjustments is then produced.
