Kovats retention indexes of mono- and di-unsaturated CIS alcohols, acetates and aldehydes found in Lepidopteran pheromone blends

Many Lepidopteran pheromones consist of blends of mono- and di-unsaturated alcohols, aldehydes and acetates. These compounds are obtained in only nanogram quantities from pheromone gland extracts, so that the use of Kovats indexes, in combination withmass spectrometry can provide substantial information about the structures. This paper reports Kovats Retention Indices of 49 mono- and di-unsaturated alcohols, aldehydes, and acetates with 18 carbon chains, measured on non polar (EC-5) and polar (Wax)stationary phases.
