Portuguese Adolescents' Sexual Behaviour Related to HIV/AIDS - Findings from HBSC Study and Focus Groups

This research examined demographic, personal, family and school variables related to adolescents' sexual behaviour. The study utilised mixed quantitative-qualitative methods. Data were collected from the Portuguese sample of the "Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children -2002-(HBSC)" (Currie, Samdal, Boyce & Smith, 2001; Matos, Dias et al, 2003). Based on these results, we conducted 14 focus groups discussions. These findings have important implications to implement a comprehensive programme on HIV/ AIDS education in Portuguese secondary schools.
