A component modal test was conducted on the horizontal stabilizer and elevator of a McDonnell Douglas MD-90 flight test aircraft. The test aircraft was on the ground equipped with the same instrumentation as it would have in flight. The onboard flight test data system was used to collect and transmit data to a ground station for analysis. Both sine dwell and sine sweep methods were used for the test. This paper presents the test operation and test results.
