In this paper two basic problems are analysed: the first, of particular interest for control stability of mechanical systems, concerns the position of the transfer function antiresonances along a continuous one-dimensional system; the second analyses the repartition of energy into the left or the right of a concentrated force applied to a beam, trying to account for energy concentration along one of these sections. It is often stressed that the antiresonances correspond to resonances of particular substructures determined by the reciprocal position of sensor and actuator. These substructures are here clearly defined, with some comments involving wave propagation and near field contributions. Numerical examples on continuous one-dimensional systems are considered to validate theoretical considerations.
