Heat Recovery Steam Generator Drum Level Measurement Sources of Error

Many Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) associated with combined cycle generating units have installation related issues that can impact the accuracy of differential pressure based steam drum level measurements. These issues include measurement taps that may come out the top and bottom of the steam drum rather than the end of the drum. Sliding the drum operating pressure also can impact the measurement. The outside installation of these HRSGs may also affect measurement accuracy. This paper will explore these issues and discuss methods for mitigating them.
