摘要

Significant wave height data from altimeter measurements of Topex/Poseidon (T/P) are collocated and compared for a two year period with buoy measurements and WAM model forecasts for the area of the North Aegean Sea in Greece. A relative good agreement between T/P and buoy data is revealed and a calibration equation is derived for T/P data. From the comparisons of the buoy and T/P data with the WAM model forecasts, a constant underestimation trend of the model results is identified.
