A single point moored 160kDWT FPSO will be used in BZ25-1 oil field located in Chinese Bohai Bay. The ratio between the water depth and the design draught is only 1.15, which is the smallest in the world FPSO applications. As technical assurance, numerical and experimental studies are performed to investigate the hydrodynamic performance of the FPSO in various loading and environment conditions. It is shown that the full load FPSO will be safe in 10-year and 1-year environments and dangerous in 100-year survival storms. Therefore, the FPSO should be less loaded from 14.5m draught to 14.0m at least when the survival
