In this study, the effects of two different methods of soil preparation (scalping & mounding) on greenhouse gas fluxes (CO2, N2O, CH4) in a drained, clearcut peatland were examined along a nutrient and moisture gradient during the first post-soil preparation growing season. According to preliminary results, CO2 effluxes from mounds were markedly greater than those from scalps, while scalps and pits proved sensitive to water table-induced fluctuations in CH4 fluxes.
