NW Iberian Peninsula blanket bogs: their vegetation and relationships with the British blanket bogs

In this work the blanket bog vegetation from the Xistral Mountains (NW Iberian Peninsula) and from the British Islands were compared to establish their distinctive characteristics. Also, the classical phytosociological approach for their communities was tested using numerical methods. The results show the differentiation between these areas and reveal the peculiarity of the Xistral communities. Although the traditional classification agrees relatively well with the numerical one, some of the groupings obtained with the data used were poorly defined.
