This paper presents a correction of physical parameters of the analytical model by directly applying the sensitivity of the cross orthogonality between modal filter vectors (MFV) and analytical modal vectors (AMV).[1] By definition, the MFV contains the mass matrix information, and are orthogonal to the test modal vectors(TMV) in a given frequency range. If the AMV and TMV are identical, the cross-orthogonality between MFV and AMV will be the same as that between MFV and TMV. The physical parameter correction of the analytical model can be calculated through the sensitivity of the orthogonality in the sense of the least squares of the differences of the orthogonality. Corrections of the cross section areas on a beam structure were studied and discussed to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed procedure.
