A METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH FOR STUDYING THE CHEMICAL INTERACTIONS BETWEEN PHOSPHORUS AND HUMIC SUBSTANCES

A number of studies have shown the direct relationship between the organic matter content,and more concretely the humus content,and the bioavailability of phosphorus(P)in different soil types(Chen and Avnimelech,1986).In the majority of these works,this relationship is explained assuming the formation of phospho-humic complexes that increase P bioavailability under adverse soil conditions(Delgado et al.,2002).However the different studies carried out with the aim of demonstrating and characterizing these phospho-humic complexes have not reported conclusive evidence of their real formation.
