STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS OF A FLUIDIZED BED: INVENTORY AND FLUIDIZING FLOWRATE EFFECT

Evolution of the pressure drop of fluidized bed and its deformation around and above minimum fluidization was studied: the minimum fluidization increased with bed inventory whilst bed porosity decreased under same conditions. These results were then interpreted thanks to an Ergun-like law combined with a consolidation effect due to the inventory packing.
