An oscillatory flow in human lung was investigated experimentally. One of the objects in the present study is to clarify the gas exchange mechanism in the peripherals, e.g. from the 18-th to 20-th generations, which are the leading region of gas exchanges. The second object is the inspection of the flow convection under the HFOV (high frequency oscillatory ventilation) condition. The experiment was carried out with the real scale model for human lungs, instead of using a similarity analysis, because of practical clinical condition of HFOV. The velocity profiles were obtained with ensemble mean measurements. The phase mean velocities at each branch were experimentally obtained and the phase delay was compared each other to discuss the influence of it on the pendelluft. Finally the air trajectory was demonstrated with the ensemble averaged velocities in the test section. The variation of the trajectory was also discussed for various compliance ratios of bronchioles.
