Developing Process Planning Intelligence by Knowledge Based Engineering

摘要

Process planning is knowledge intensive in nature. Using intelligent methodology to develop computer-aided process planning systems with knowledge supported decision-making functions has long been focused and studied. However, difficulties in knowledge application have prevented the effective proceeding of the problem solving. This paper analyzed the issue and presents a systematic framework for knowledge supporting in computer-aided process planning by knowledge based engineering. Important issues in implementing knowledge based engineering in process planning are discussed. The paper also introduces the application of knowledge based engineering in process planning developed based on product data management systems, which could further enhance process planning intelligence.
