This work involved a combined modelling and experimental spectroscopic investigation of an operating, DYS-type halogen lamp; the overall objective of the work being to validate, using advanced laser spectroscopic techniques, the predictions of computational fluid dynamics computer models that incorporate complex, multispecies chemical and physical processes. Such validation is important for the further development and application of such models in studies of technologically important systems such as light sources.
