摘要

The anode plasma layer in high-intensity discharge lamps (HID) is a non-LTE layer that plays an important role in electrode performance. Predicting behavior in the anode region has been difficult because of experimental discrepancies between measured anode falls and power balance, appearance of contracted attachment modes, and uncertainties in the role of the anode sheath. To gain understanding of these issues, we have compared measurements of the anode and the surrounding plasma to ID anode layer simulations that include radial losses and a self-consistent development of the anode sheath.
