In the modern processes for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL) production, the double tip-off technology combined with mercury solid dosing based on Hg containing materials is the usual technique adopted for Hg dispensation. Various types of Hg dispensing materials can be used to introduce into the lamp the few milligrams of mercury necessary for the life: the standard and most reliable solution is based on small dispensers containing a stable Tillg alloy, suitable to dose small amounts of Hg in a precise way without causing environmental pollution problems in the production areas [1].
