Today's suspended ceiling systems offer grid based constructions with a wide range of acoustical options. The panels consist of rock wool, glass fibers, cellulose fibers, perlite, clay and other minerals and starch, acting as binder. Several competitive products are in the market with different composition, counting for acoustics, fire resistance and duration. The inhomogeneous material can be analysed only after sieve and gravity separation by combination of different analytical methods as: x-ray powder diffraction, sem in combination with elemental analyses and imagine analysis and thermo gravimetrical methods. In this way full scale analysis are possible with a typical reliability factor of ± 5 % by volume.
