Biomass conversion into synthetic hydrocarbons via Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis has the potential to produce high-value transportation fuels or petrochemicals from non-fossil sources. This theoretical work studies the effect of CO_2 inlet concentration on CO_2 conversion and hydrocarbon yield. A simple fixed bed plug flow reactor model is applied and validated by independent experimental data. This study illustrates that the rate equations and parameters derived by Riedel et al. for pure CO_2 hydrogenation are applicable for the entire range of CO/CO_2 mixtures. Additionally, case studies are carried out concerning the effects of H_2 availability and reactor temperature on CO_2 conversion and hydrocarbon yield.
