Analysis of Laminated Plates with Third Order Plate Theory and with the Natural Neighbour Radial Point Interpolation Method

An improved meshless method is used in the numerical implementation of an Unconstrained Third-Order Plate Theory applied to laminates. The meshless method enforces the nodal connectivity using the Natural Neighbour concept and uses the Radial Point Interpolators in order to construct the interpolation functions, which possess the delta Kronecker property. The meshless method uses the weak-form of Galerkin, which is integrated with a background integration mesh completely constructed based on the nodal distribution. Several well-known benchmark static and dynamic laminate examples are solved in order to prove the high accuracy and convergence rate of the proposed method. The numerical results obtained with the meshless method are compared with the Unconstrained Third-Order Plate Theory exact solution, when available, and with other plate deformation theories exact solutions.
