Aspects of soybean insect resistance breeding in China

摘要

Progress in soybean insect resistance breeding in China is briefly outlined, which includes species and distribution of soybean insect pests in China, identification of insect resistance and screening of resistance sources, resistance mechanism and inheritance of soybeans to insect pests, and soybean insect resistance breeding. Some suggestions on soybean insect resistance breeding are proposed. The damage caused by insect pests is an important factor impairing soybean production. It was estimated that soybean loss caused by insect pests is about 10-15% each year in China. At present, comprehensive measures are usually adopted in the course of the prevention and control of insect pests, such as improved cultural management, chemical control and biological prevention. However, the development of cultivars with resistance to insect pests is one of the most effective and economical methods to prevent soybean pests. Researches on soybean insect resistance breeding in China began in the late 1950's. A number of results have been achieved. Aspects of soybean insect resistance breeding in China will be outlined as follows.
