The paper briefly states the background of probability of spares sufficiency, definition, another names and formula of calculating the number of required spares by probability of spares sufficiency. The mathematical relationship of probability of spares sufficiency and operational availability is independently deduced in this paper. The conclusion that probability of spares sufficiency is factor of effecting on proportion relation of inherent availability A_i and operational availability A_O is educed. Finally, the example of selecting and determining probability of spares sufficiency according to availability is given.
