Effect of globalization on public transport players - a perspective from China and Australia

Distinguished colleagues, Ladies and Gentleman, it is a pleasure to join you at this UITP Conference here in Hong Kong. Although an Australian; I presently live in Chongqing, China and travel widely around the country. Consequently I thought I would 'kill two birds with one stone' and share with you the Effect of Globalisation on Public Transport Players in China today as well as back in Australia. Australia, in recent years has seen significant impact from globalisation through the entry of multi-national players into the public transport market and China, now, is itself emerging as both the recipient, and exporter, of public transport expertise and therefore sits well and truly within the global transit market.
