Studies of the effect of drag-reducing polymers on two phase flow (air-water) patterns were carried out in horizontal 9.53 and 2.54 cm pipes. The interfacial shear stress was decreased by adding drag-reducing polymers and the flow pattern configuration was changed. The present study indicates a maximum drag reduction is occurred when a slug, pseudo slug, high amplitude wavy stratified or annular flow changes to stratified pattern by adding drag-reducing polymers. Drag reductions as high as 50-60 % could be realized with polymer concentration in the water in the pipeline of the order of 15 ppm.
