摘要

Low bone mineral density cannot fully explain fracture incidence, as this parameter only presents a partial correlation with bone strength. Bone quality may be the key concept in this field, but since actual imaging diagnosis tools cannot access it, computational simulations can be an important aid. This paper presents an innovative analysis of bone quality indicators combining imaging diagnosis tools (DXA) with computational bone remodelling models. This analysis was preceded by the remodelling model validation, through quantitative comparison with DXA data. Results highlight the possibility of patient-specific simulations and the important role of bone quality indicators in fracture risk assessment.
