The transformation of non-orientation silicon steel sheet is uneven and the transformation on the surface is large when cool rolling, thus the nucleation motive is big and the amount of nucleation is large when recrystallization annealing, so crystals on the surface are smaller than in the center, therefore, the iron loss on the surface is lower than in the center. If the material is smoothened and annealed with tiny transformation after recrystallization annealing, the transformation on the surface is larger than in the center when smoothening, on the other hand, the transformation in smoothening is so small that it can not reach the extent that recrystallization needs, so recrystallization nucleation can not happen in the following annealing, yet recrystallization growth can happen. The motive of recrystallization growth of the crystals on the surface is therefore large because of its large transformation and the recrystallization growing speed of which are rapid, then large crystals on the surface are produced. It is investigated in this paper the effect of smoothening and annealing on the magnetic properties of silicon steel sheets and it is concluded that the magnetic properties of middle or low brand silicon steel are obviously improved after smoothening and annealing.
