This paper mainly deals with the identification of structural modal parameters using an ARMAV model method. From this paper, it is concluded that the ARMAV model method is an efficient method for identification of modal parameters. For the modeling of ARMAV model, a new method of the choice of the model initial values and the method of lowering the order of ARMAV model are put forward, the non-linear least square method is used to get more accurate results. Then the capability of modal parameters identification by ARMAV model method is checked by some simulations of lower SNR, high damping and close modes. In the experiment with a circular plate, the first and second modal parameters are identified, and results are in accordance with ITD and Poly Reference methods.
