Blood spots in white shell eggs have been found non-destruclivcly by conventional candling methods. Recenth. a non-destructive method using near infrared spcetroscopy has also been used. But it is very difficult even for such equipment to detect blood spots within brown shell eggs accurately at a high rate. Thus, in the present study, an original non-destructive detection system was developed using near infrared spectroscopy. The difference spectrum method using the specific wavelength in the absorbance secondary differentiation valne proved very effective for the analyses. As a result, the detection rates of "normal eggs" and "eggs with blood spots" with this system were 100% and 92.3%. respcctneiy.
